Question
Good books to read after Dan Brown?
Im about to finish Deception Point by Dan Brown, and am looking for something new to read. Im a fan of all works by Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling. Would you be able to recommend any good booksauthors that would suit my tastes?
Answer
I work at Borders, and customers who have loved Dan Brown have also loved Matthew Pearl, who wrote the Dante Club and the Poe Shadow. They are both conspiracy related novels with past authorscharacters as the main characters, excellent reads too, if I may say. Also, the Rule of Four is very similar to the Da Vinci Code, religious conspiracies and the like.brbrAs for books similar to JK Rowlings Harry Potter, may I suggest Christopher Paolinis Eragon and Eldest? Its the first books of a part trilogy about a boy and a dragon, set in a world with elves, dwarves, magic, and evil. Excellent read, and very good. Also, I would recommend the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman. Excellent fantasy books, also with teenage characters and a quest to save the world. There are parallel universes, witches, talking bears, and amazing things happen. Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson are also in the middle of a trilogy that chronicles Peter Pans early years, starting with Peter and the Starcatchers. Very fun and amusing.
